Artist’s studio visit plus the Old Vicarage Gardens!

03.05.2014

Our group visited the studio of Norfolk born sculptor Bob Catchpole. Wow, what can I say, the art work we saw was amazing. He explained the process from initial ideas to the type of wood used, though to the finished sculpture. The linked handle spade which is currently on show at King’s Lynn Art Centre is good, but there were even more interesting and complicated linked puzzle-like wooden sculptures using agricultural tools at the studio. I really liked the hammers which sprouted from a saw’s wooden handle. Nice!

In the afternoon we visited the Old Vicarage Gardens at East Ruston. It’s big! We went there to get inspiration for our garden. There was lots to see and we got quite a few ideas on the types of plants we could use and the various combinations of colours that would complement each other. All in all a great day out, with fish n chips in between – hmmm! Mark Nudds
