The Maison de la Culture d'Amiens and the Borough Councils of King's Lynn and West Norfolk have decided to join forces to develop their cultural, natural and structural heritage through the landscaping, architectural, and artistic efforts of French and English artists. The sites in question are the Hortillonages d'Amiens and the historical centre of King's Lynn (please see descriptions in Appendices 1 and 2).

This cross-border project will be heavily based on creations by young people. It will be developed in cooperation with the local populations and will help strengthen the touristic attractiveness of both sites.

The "Art, villes et paysage" / "Art, cities and landscape" project was selected as part of the ERDF-co-funded INTERREG IVA France (Channel) – England programme.

This project has several objectives:

  • • to support young creators
  • • to develop and preserve natural and man-made heritage
  • • to reintroduce the local population to its heritage
  • • to promote professional integration for young people and people in difficulty
  • • to participate in economic solidarity
  • • to raise sustainable development awareness
  • • to develop the touristic attractiveness of these sites
  • • to promote and develop cross-border exchanges and expertise.
